I am reading an amazing book by James Maskalyk calledSix Months in Sudan: A Young Doctor in a War-torn Village. It highlights his time as a doctor in the border town of Abyei, Sudan with Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders). The book began as a blog he wrote in his small hut in Sudan and now it is being read throughout the world. You can also visit his website at http://www.sixmonthsinsudan.com/
So many children serve as restaveks in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. And yet so many people think slavery has been abolished. Educate people please!
President Obama and his family in Ghana made quite the headline news in my house. Prosper and I watched it quite a bit. And of course, I was in Cape Coast, so this is of great significance to me. Check it out if you didn't see it already.

Gosh, I love Africa! Have I mentioned that before??
Teaching in Africa was the best decision of my life. I spent 8 glorious months working with the people of Ghana and teaching the beautiful children of Idea & Ideology Nursery School and the Buduburam Refugee Camp in Accra. My entire life revolves around three things: my family, teaching and Africa! My long-term goal is to develop my own NGO that brings education to Former Child Soldiers of war-torn Africa!
